Buffer

Joshua CookAIGA INDY announced today their new incoming board positions for the 2012-2013 programming season. Among the announcements, Joshua Cook from Miles Design was elected as the new AIGA INDY President. The president’s role is a volunteer position that helps set the vision and shape the objectives for the local chapter of AIGA. The board made these announcements after returning from the annual leadership retreat, this year held in Salt Lake City.

Joshua Cook, a graduate of Anderson University, joined Miles Design in 2009, and has been active in the Indianapolis chapter for 5 years, beginning as a student. Previously Cook served on the programming committee and then became Programming Director, as well as actively involving himself in the conversation on a national scale.

“I’ve experienced first hand the many benefits of being involved with this great organization. The value truly goes beyond any membership discount. It is found in meeting other passionate creatives and the opportunities to be challenged personally and professionally. AIGA has a strong mission, a rich history and I’m proud to be associated with its members locally and nationally. It’s an honor to step into this leadership role and I’m excited to continue working with our members to clarify and strengthen the role of Design in our communities” shared Joshua Cook.

Of course, this isn’t the first Miles Design representative to serve on the AIGA board. Amanda Blackburn has been involved in AIGA INDY for over six years, continuing her work on the board this year as Finance director, as well as Miles Design founder Josh Miles, who had served nearly nine years, three of which as chapter president.

Josh Miles commented, “I’m incredibly proud of Joshua and all that he seeks to accomplish as the new president of AIGA INDY. I know how much pressure something like this can put on any professional designer. Joshua is a natural leader, and I know he will thrive in this role. We’re looking forward to seeing what this organization accomplishes under his direction.”
